Members of the McLovins Return to Their Roots
(Hartford, CT) Two 2011 graduates of the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts High School returned to the school earlier this month to visit with and perform for students.
Jake Huffman and Atticus Kelly, CREC alumni, are two of the four members of The McLovins, a soulful, funk rock band. Other band members include Jason Ott and Justin Berger.
Inspired by bands like The Flaming Lips, The McLovins combine their songwriting skills with extended improvisations and instrumental ingenuity—and always leave the audience guessing as to what they will do next.
The McLovins perform at many venues throughout the country and have appeared at the Gathering of the Vibes, the Nateva Music Festival, and Mountain Jam. They are currently working on an album with award-wining producer Bill Sherman, and it is expected to be released in October.
Students at CREC’s Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts were fortunate to have the opportunity to meet and learn from two recent graduates who are pursuing their dreams and finding success.
